emmyBOOM has a new album completely produced by Squadda B.
Hello guys,
So how did you guys meet?
EmmyBOOM We initially got linked up through instagram I think, lowkey it’s the hub for artists online in this day and age. First met up at the last Bruiser Thanksgiving though, the final final one hosted by Bruiser Wolf in Detroit. We kicked it for a few hours with the crew. That was my first time in Detroit I can’t lie it was one of the dopest experiences I’ve had in a minute.
Squadda B Hell yeah I’ve been seeing Emmy online for a minute, first I saw her was at Bruiser Wolfs Bruiser Thanksgiving and we kicked it as a collective for a little bit.
Any interesting stories about creating the album?
EmmyBOOM The one that comes to mind gotta be that DIAMOND’s beat was made on Danny Brown’s tour bus on his last tour. I think there’s photos on Squadda’s instagram of it, when I first heard that shit I thought it was wild
Squadda B I was working a whole lot on beats imaging what would grab Emmy and that process was super fun!!

Squadda B, what was your aim with the style of the beats?
Squadda B My aim was to see what hidden talents Emmy had within their musical abilities so i sent a lot of different type of approaches and continued with what seemed to be most effective. With Emmy it was fun how she chose a lot of my personal favorites out of the bunches!
What is your favourite track on the album and why?
EmmyBOOM My favorite track is DIAMOND easy, but BIGMANSHIT is really close. DIAMOND was one of the last songs we recorded being just a few months ago too, that kind of music is something that I want to keep doing going forward and Squadda really uplifted it with the insane beat. BIGMANSHIT is just really fun lmfao, that’s also the most “video game” sounding song we got on this project that’s kinda become a love letter to retro gaming.
Squadda B I totally agree “Diamond” is one of those ones when I first heard it I was like oh yeah we gotta put this near the beginning of the tape. It seems like those records recorded near the end of the recording sessions seem to embody the whole album in a way in my experience.

What was the art of the album based on?
EmmyBOOM Bomberman! Mad shoutouts to spoolbug & mf2destro for the crazy art that uplifted this shit to the next level. We were talking and Squadda sent me a picture of Bomberman and was like, yo, we should make something like this the album cover. And I was like holy shit, I love Bomberman. And I guess he was equally hip to bomberman which was wild!! I guess it makes sense though with the whole BOOM side of things.
Squadda B Hell yeah!! I’ve been a huge fan of Bomberman since a literal kid so with Emmys name being EmmyBoom it’s the perfect opportunity to give the video game some relevance!
I feel like the style of the album is almost like hyper pop, but a hyper rap. Would this describe the album correctly? was that what you were going for?
EmmyBOOM Lowkey I see the vision with that completely. I was a hip-hop baby and right now I mainly listen to hip-hop, hyperpop, electronic music and it’s sub-genres, so I think it was a natural influence. I don’t try to put genres on my albums but it’s something you gotta do!
Squadda B I wanted to make the most perfect soundscape for Emmy’s raps mostly. I don’t listen to much outside of my own music and old albums I was raised on so I really wasn’t trying to do anything other than make a new lane out of what we already have going.
So Squadda B made the diamond beat on the tour bus? what was the influence for the beat?
Squadda B I was bored and didn’t know anyone plus it reminded me of the old times being on a bus so I took out my laptop and started working. I always imaged how much music i’d make on those buses, so it was kind of a premeditated thing that happened to happen. I always make beats at airports or anytime I can really. I was trying new plug ins, i’d say that was the influence lol.
